District Personnel

Rev. Gary A. Daniel was born and raised in Marion, Indiana.  He attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, and graduated from Indian Wesleyan University in 1970 with a BS in Elementary Education.

After graduation from Indiana Wesleyan, Gary taught elementary school for two years in Montgomery, AL.  In 1972 he was employed by the Alabama Farm Bureau Insurance Company, now called ALFA Insurance, eventually promoted to a Vice -President in the Underwriting Department.  Having always been active in his local church, Gary answered the call to ministry in 1985.  He received his Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1988.  He was ordained a Deacon in 1987, and admitted into full connection as an elder in 1990.  Gary served at Epworth UMC in Eufaula, AL, from 1985-1988; St. Mark UMC in Montgomery, AL, from 1988-1994; Parker UMC in Panama City, FL from 1994-2000; Brewton FUMC in Brewton, AL, from 2000-2005; Summerville UMC in Phenix City, AL from 2005-2006; and Enterprise FUMC from 2006 until his appointment as Distict Superintendent of the Marianna-Panama City District in July of 2010.

Gary has been married to Pamela Brooks Daniel of Montgomery, AL for 42 years.  They have three children; David, Michelle and Alan.  Gary and Pam also have five grandchildren, Collin, Cynthis, Kaitlyn, Alicia and Tucker.

Pam, who was born and raised in Montgomery, AL, grew up in Capitol Heights United Methodist Church.  Pam is very musically talented.  She grew up singing in church and school choirs and has taught piano for more than 20 years.  She directed the choirs at Epworth UMC, St. Mark UMC and Brewton UMC.  Pam has served as church pianist for churches in Eufaula, Montgomery, and Panama City.

Gary's Grandfather, Rev. J. L. Daniel, Sr.and Great-Uncle, Rev. W. F. Daniel were ministers in the Alabama-West Florida Conference.
